Job Description
Vector Technical's partner is the largest privately held Heat Treat company in the US. This stable manufacturing company in Willoughby, OH, is seeking Braze Operators for their busy operation!
Climate-controlled area.
Candidates who enjoy fine-detail work (previous small-repair work; crafting) while sitting at your own station may enjoy this position!
The Braze Operator will prepare small (down to the size of a quarter), delicate parts for furnace brazing by cleaning, assembling, and applying alloy to product. Inspect product visually and dimensionally, using specified inspection equipment. May also perform temporary assignments in other departments as needed.
Available Shifts:
1st Shift $19.10/hr.
**base pay bump to $20.11/hr. once fully trained
Key Responsibilities:
Perform Bench Assembly work on small parts that consists of the following:
- Clean component parts with acetone, solvent, soap and water, and/or grinding tools with burrs.
- Apply braze paste, preforms, rings, tape, foil, and/or shim stock to assemblies prior to loading into the furnace.
- Match customer paperwork with parts.
- Properly follow and utilize the color cone system used throughout the process for product traceability throughout the plant.
- Fill out a PICS shop order and accurately follow each step(s) to effectively and accurately complete work on customer parts.
- Mix alloy powder and binder to proper specifications to create braze paste to specification.
- Assemble parts prior to brazing with equipment, such as an arbor press, punch press, wiring, a hammer and punch, or by spot welding.
- Fixture parts for brazing according to PICS and work instructions.
- Move parts to designated furnace areas using racks, hand carts and potentially other material handling devices, but not limited to floor jack, electric lift, and forklift.
- Inspect brazed assemblies, per instructions and specifications.
- Fill out inspection results on PICS shop orders, along with adding proper rework/reject codes, as needed, and record in any designated log books.
- Move inspected parts to the next area designated on the PICS shop order.
- Hand stamp parts, as required, with serial numbers for traceability.
- Fill out return goods form and attach a copy to shop order and place one copy in packing container.
- Report discrepancies and equipment problems to Area Manager or Maintenance Department.
- Fill out and submit a production worksheet on a daily basis and be able to meet specified production rates.
- Log daily activity detailing jobs processed and inspected.
- Keep area clean and organized at all times. Reference 5S board for specific tasks.
- Follow all plant rules and ensure that all production activities are conducted in a safe manner.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 months of work experience.
- Attendance is essential for success.
- Attention to detail, exceptional eyesight and fine-motor skills, plus the ability to produce consistent quality work are required.
- Must be able to follow work order/shop instructions.
- Be able to consistently produce to posted production rates/goals.
- MUST be able to work overtime
