Extrusion Operator

Available Shifts:
Days 3a-3p
Nights 3p-3a
Work Mon-Thurs, get Fri/Sat/Sun off!
Payrate: $21-$33/hr., depending upon skills. Plus a shift differential for night shift of $.75/hr.
Job Summary:
Responsible for setting up and operating extrusion machines to produce products with specific requirements and properties. Monitor and adjust machine settings, troubleshooting issues, and ensure the quality and consistency of the output. Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning tasks on the machines and maintain accurate production records.
Responsibilities:
- Performs setup and operates extruder to produce product according to quality, production, and customer requirements.
- Troubleshoots equipment and other production related issues.
- Detects and solves problems related to product quality, aesthetics, and/or contamination.
- Adjusts machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures, quantities, dimensions, and flow of materials or raw materials.
- Records and maintains production data
- Assists with preventive maintenance activities
- Assist in training other team members
- Inspects quality of equipment before production beings and continuously checks quality of the line as product is produced using required QC equipment such as but not limited to calipers, rulers (in, mm and m), and comparators.
- Ensures material meets customer requirements
- Completes all required paperwork and forms
- Update Daily Management System at the end of each shift; provides daily communication to coworkers, maintenance, leads, and management team members.
- Participants in continuous improvement activities
- Completes a minimum of one safety behavior observation/near miss report each month
- Position requires flexibility to include shift changes and overtime; must be able to work, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of extrusion experience
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Assist co-workers in the use of equipment.
- Trustworthy with confidential information.
- Systems and process approach to problem solving
- Ability to read and write
- Ability to read and properly use a ruler
- Basic shop math skills
