CNC Machine Setup Operator
Job Description
They are looking for CNC Setup Operators for both Mills and Lathes!
Direct Hire
Available Shifts:
1st - 5a-3:30p or 6a-4:30p
2nd - 3:30p-2a
Up to $26/hr., depending on your skillset
Job Summary
Lathes: Set up and program 2-axis and 3-axis CNC lathes.
Mills: Set up and program 3-axis and 4-axis CNC vertical mills and CNC horizontal milling centers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read blueprints or job order for product specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances; tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut; and determine sequence o operations.
- Select, position, and secure tool in toolholder (chuck, collet or toolpost)
- Verify that gaging methods are adequate to produce the necessary quality requirements
- Position and secure workpiece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixtures using clamps and wrenches.
- Move controls to position tool and workpiece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
- Observe operation of machine and verify conformance of machined workpiece to specifications, using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
- Observe machining operation to detect malfunction or tool wear.
- Operate bench grinder to sharpen tools.
- Inspect and measure parts to maintain statistical process control charts.
- Perform finish operations, when required (i.e. deburring).
- Read and comprehend blueprints and job traveler instructions and follow established safety procedures.
- 5+ years' machining experience
- Must have own tools
- Familiarity with machine maintenance and proven knowledge in commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions.
- Practical experience reading and comprehending blueprints and work instructions, and following established safety procedures.
