Job Description


Vector's client, a leading innovator in engineered heat treating, brazing and metal finishing solutions is seeking Hourly Production Heat Treat Leads for positions at their plant in Willoughby, Ohio!

3rd Shift   10:30p-7a
$20/hr. + $1.10 shift diff = $21.10/hr.
**Base pay increases to $23.77/hr. once fully trained. **

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily production labor plan for the Heat Treat Specialists to work from, allowing them to be productive and effective in meeting our customer’s needs.
  • Assist with ensuring that the proper furnace cycles are run and parts are running to correct the process(es).
  • Know how to operate all industrial heat treating equipment and customer product, including but not limited to, loading of product, placing of thermocouples, answering alarms and verifying the cycle is processing per PICS / the shop order.
  • Monitor equipment frequently, throughout the shift.
  • Understand WonderWare (equipment dashboard for processing cycles) and how to assist during a power failure and various alarm conditions.
  • Properly understand and be able to train on setup of loads for processing, while following detailed and specific work instructions. At times, perform the setup function as well.
  • Load and unload various pieces of industrial equipment; such as but not limited to: vacuums, air stress furnaces, bake ovens, tempering equipment, and deep freeze units.
  • Express the importance of attention to detail and following shop orders is of paramount importance, as setup and pack away requirements from job to job can vary significantly, as well as, at times performing setups and pack aways.
  • Notify the Shift Supervisor and/or Shift Manager of anomalies during the day to day operations, including equipment and/or maintenance related problems, such as those found during equipment inspections.
  • Understand lot control, as required, and be able to convey the importance of this to Heat Treat Specialists.
  • At times, mark parts, as required per job, to ensure lot control is maintained, as well as sample locations are being identified.
  • Understand and follow all PICS procedures and work instructions pertaining to the job role.
  • Identify process improvements to implement in shop order processes.
  • Make up, utilize, and replace thermocouples, as necessary.
  • Report deviations from job specifications to the Shift Supervisor, Shift Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, Production Manager and/or the Plant Manager.
  • Perform required material handling using a forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, and/ or furnace loader, when necessary.
  • Responsible for performing and delegating training responsibilities for new hires and not yet learned job duties to those that do not fall in the new hire category.
  • Perform tasks, as required, to assist and support in other departments; such as but not limited to:  shipping, receiving, and the hydrogen belt department.
  • Maintain high standards for Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, and integrity.
  • Responsible for organization and housekeeping, including 5S, of one’s team and shift.
  • Advocate for safe behavior among all personnel while participating Quarterly in the Safety Awards Program.
  • Follow all shop rules and ensure that all production activities are conducted in a safe manner.
  • Prepare and lead the daily shift LDMS meeting while being in attendance and punctual.


 

Requirements:

 
  • Requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of basic math and mechanical principles. 
  • Logical thinking process and organizational skills.
  • Professional manner when interacting with peers, superiors, vendors and customers. 
  • Prior experience in a similar or related position is preferred.
  • Knowledge of computers and PLCs is preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s) Required:
  • Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
