Boiler & Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Job Summary:
This person will be responsible for monitoring boilers, steam, HVAC, compressor, and other plant equipment on a continuous basis, as well as verifying that equipment continues to run properly. Also, knowledgeable in heavy maintenance activities, including boiler and electrical operations.
This position is on a rotating 12 hour, 3 or 4 days per week for 24 hour plant coverage (DuPont schedule).
6:00am start time for approx. 2 months, then switch to 6:00pm start for 2 months.
Direct Hire
$27 - $30/hr., depending upon experience
Job responsibilities also include, but not limited to:
- Perform maintenance on building or production equipment as necessary.
- Maintain plant security and answer phone as necessary.
- Use lift equipment to move and position material as necessary.
- Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain high quality standards.
- Operate and maintain boilers and steam equipment, including running tests of boiler and process water.
- Operate and maintain evaporator, and/or RO system.
- Monitor and adjust furnace temperatures, water, hydrogen and nitrogen flows and check for leaks; purge furnaces; record daily readings.
- Monitor operation of building systems and maintain within proper limits.
- Process and domesticate hot and cold water, including process water testing and treatment, as well as softener testing and recharging.
- Maintain neutralizer system, including changing charts of pH recorders.
- Inspect fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems.
- Respond quickly to emergency situations
Qualifications:
- High School of Vocational School Diploma and/or GED required.
- 3-5 years of Maintenance experience required.
- Responsible for deciding whether equipment is safe to continue running or if it must be shut down. The position also requires making immediate decisions regarding hydrogen atmosphere furnaces.
- Business needs and trade compliance requirements mandate that this position be held by a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
Preferred:
- Position requires the use of shop math, 2-3 years of trades training and a Boiler Operator license.
- A detailed understanding of engineering drawings (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic).
- Must have expertise with PLC Controls
- Excellent understanding of safety rules in an industrial setting
