Boiler Field Service Technician

Pay range will vary based on experience:
 - $25/hr. for little-to-no experience with trade school.
 - Mid-$30's/hr. range for experienced techs of at least 5 years.
Job Summary:
This position requires field service on commercial/industrial boiler and burner systems in Northern Ohio. This includes natural gas and fuel oil combustion testing, adjusting of the fuel/air ratio on various boilers, burners, ovens, and incinerators, while using an electronic combustion analyzer in addition to other customer boiler service needs.Â
Responsibilities:
• Specific knowledge of troubleshooting and maintaining industrial/commercial steam and hot water boilers, boiler room operation, and auxiliary equipment. Â
• Responsible for retrofit and repair of boilers, burners, and accessories, utilizing knowledge of steam and hot water theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts.Â
• Familiar with all forms of flame safeguards and the use of VOM's and other troubleshooting tools. Â
• Conduct calibration, repair, and adjustment of associated controls.Â
• Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications to customer’s equipment. Â
• Assist in installations and start-up of newly installed boilers and burners. Â
• Prepare for new equipment commissioning and repairs by examining equipment, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work.Â
Requirements:
• Minimum of five years of mechanical work experience. (candidates with light experience but who have Trade School graduation will be considered)
• A positive attitude and desire to be part of a winning team.Â
• Ability to follow schematics, piping diagrams, and blueprints.  Â
• Occasional travel to out of state customer sites.  Â
• Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction.Â
• Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair systems and products at customer’s location.Â
• Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as necessary.Â
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.Â
• Participation in on-going training to enhance knowledge and skills.  Â
• Keep current on the installation, operation, service, and repair of represented products.Â
• Document work by completing daily paperwork on each job.Â
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Â
• Determine parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.Â
• Maintain inventory of required supplies and tools on company supplied service vehicle.Â
• Communicate sales leads to Sales Department.Â
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees. Â
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure including rate, ratio, and percentage. Â
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Â
• Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Â
