Plastics Production Technician

Vector's partner in Medina, OH has been in the manufacturing business for well over 100 years. They are looking for the right fit to fill their role of Plastics Production Technician.
**Plastic Injection Mold or Plastic Extrusion Mold experience is a requirement for this position. **
Salary: $18-$25/hr., depending upon experience
Shifts Available (expected hours/wk. = 40-50):
2nd Shift: 3p-10p
3rd Shift: 10p-6a
Job Summary:
The Production Technician is responsible for the hands-on operation and maintenance of PVC extrusion blow molding equipment to support the plastic needs of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Follows prescribed start-up, shutdown, and purge procedures, and operates and changes over to new products on the extrusion blow molding production line(s).
- Monitors the production runs and makes adjustments as needed to control ideal resin feed, bottle weights, physical clarity, and quality.
- Adjusts the bottle trim machine to meet finished product specifications.
- Performs quality checks and enters quality data into the production tracking program.
- Performs troubleshooting on the production line and all support equipment and adjusts and repairs as required.
- Uses appropriate material handling equipment to move raw materials, supplies and finished goods.
- Follows all required safety guidelines and procedures and makes sure all safety devices are in working order prior to starting.
- Completes preventative maintenance requirements per the PM schedule.
- Tracks production and quality in the production tracking program
- Follows all housekeeping and safety procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work with both automated, PLC-controlled machinery and hydraulically powered machinery.
- Ability to learn the technical aspects of PVC extrusion blow molding and mold set-ups.
- Organized and disciplined in maintaining spare parts, tools, and materials.
- Ability to use Metric and Standard measurements and all operate all appropriate hand tools.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
- Strong Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-starter.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- Good manual dexterity and coordination.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Adaptable, willing, and able to learn/do new things.
- Demonstrated comfort with data entry, computers, and automation.
