OVERVIEW:


Rough Clean Operators may be responsible for the following operations:
  • Autoclave Operation
  • Blaster Operation (Water and Sand)
  • Grain Etch Operation
  • Knockout Cutoff Operation
  • Washout Operation

All employees may be cross-trained in areas as required by business needs.

JOB TASKS/REQUIREMENTS:

Autoclave Operator:
  • Load parts in autoclave baskets
  • Load and unload baskets in autoclaves
  • Record information in Lot Control
  • Operate/monitor autoclaves
  • React per SOP to alarm conditions
  • Assist with Washout

Blast Operator (Water and Sand):
  • Removal of all ceramic from metal castings using manual blast booths, automatic Sandblast machines, and pneumatic shell removal machines, using proper aluminum oxide and silicon dioxide sand at various grits.
  • Record all work performed in computer systems.
  • Keep the work area in a clean, orderly and safe working condition.
  • Verification of parts to paperwork.
  • Comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

Grain Etch Operator:
  • Grain Eth parts using acids in tank.
  • Verification of parts to paperwork.
  • Load/Unload parts per PEI.
  • Soak parts in acids and rinse properly with water.
  • Operate power-washing equipment.
  • Hand dry parts or operate automatic parts washer.
  • Communicate issues with Waste Water Department and Level II Inspector.
  • Monitor acid tank levels and schedule change-outs.
  • Perform daily gage audits on acid tanks.
  • Record all work performed in Lot Control.
  • Keep the work area in a clean, orderly and safe working condition.
  • Follow all safety rules.
  • Comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

Knockout/Cutoff Operator:
  • Knock out ceramic from foundry molds with hammer.
  • Verification of parts to paper work.
  • Alloy type test using X-ray spectrometer.
  • Rough and precision cut of castings using abrasive cut-off saw.
  • Trim parts using abrasive cut-off saw.
  • Ensure proper placement of alloy for revert.
  • Ensure proper paper work is with foundry cast molds prior to Knockout.
  • Record all work performed in computer systems.
  • Keep the work area in a clean, orderly and safe working condition.
  • Follow all safety rules.
  • Comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

Washout Operator:
  • Removal of residual core material and caustic from casting internal passages via both high-pressure hand washout and usage of automated parts washer.
  • Drying of casting internal passages via high-pressure air dry and usage of automated parts washer.
  • Removal of ferric etch material from grain etch on certain parts via automated parts washer.
  • Casting visual inspection to verify core removal.
  • Verification of parts to paperwork.
  • Record all work performed in Lot Control.
  • Other cross-training opportunities will exist within the department.
  • Comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Meet or exceed defined Visual Acuity (when required).
  • Meet color perception standards needed in performance of job requirements (when required).
  • Certification and completion of written exam in accordance to SOP.
  • Additional training to comply with applicable SOP/Certifications (when required).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to be self-directed and motivated.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrate proficiency of applicable procedure instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Must follow all safety requirements/policies.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
