Vector's client located in Solon, OH is in need of a Grain Plant Batch & Feed associate to join their team, preparing ceramic products for shipment, inspecting quality, and keeping kiln operations flowing smoothly.

2nd Shift
$28.96/hr. + $.58/hr. shift diff = $29.54/hr.

RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING: 
Weighs, measures, sizes, classifies, de-irons, dries, mills, mixes, blends, extrudes, granulates, processes, packages, labels, audits, transports and warehouses all materials used for grog, coarse grain batching, specialty products in accordance with established written procedures or as directed by supervisor. Performs in-process measurements using analytic instruments and documents results as necessary. Operates or utilizes blenders, mixers, mills, dryers, granulators, comminutors, extruders, cutters, hoists, dust collectors, magnetic separators, screeners, scales, graduated cylinders, beakers, tanks, pumps, hand and power trucks, sorting processes and specialty processes. Climbs mezzanine stairwells as required to add material, monitor process, or operate equipment. Participates in training new operators. Performs equipment set ups that do not require assistance from Maintenance. Cleans equipment and 
work area as needed. Uses computer for data entry and in-process controls.
 
BATCH AND FEED 
Weigh, batch, mix and blend all materials used for processing. Operate the batch and feed equipment, rotary kiln, blender, power and hand trucks, scales and pulverizer. 
This work includes: 

• Dumping bagged materials in specified quantities into lift hoist hopper, raise hopper and dump into mixer, add specified amount water to batch, activate mixer, open mixer when mix is ready, clear bin feeder when clogged, run extruder, nodulizer and prab conveyor. 
• Screen and refeed dust house nodules. 
• Burn rotary kiln at correct temperature, cool, sort and crush good over-size clinker. 
• Operate the rotary drier, move materials from the rotary drier dump, blend, weigh, package, palletize, label and store material. 
• Blend in process materials with or without other materials to achieve desired mixes. 
• Load into appropriate containers for shipment, internal use or additional mixing as required. 
• Regularly checks products and effluents at all stages of processing and makes corrections as needed to maintain material to specifications. 
• Periodically inspects equipment, performs preventative maintenance, makes minor changes or repairs and advises Maintenance Department and/or Supervisor of major repairs, replacements, etc., that are needed. 
• Blends Blend H (2 batches/year). 
• Takes all measurements necessary to maintain audits, records, and control charts for Batch and Feed operations. 

• Weighs amounts of all batch components using various scales and measuring instruments.  
• Indicates weight and material discrepancies on batch log sheets.
• Loads and mixes batches in accordance with applicable batch procedures. Performs moisture analysis and density checks by operating test press and adjusts batch to meet targeted levels. 
• Assigns batch numbers, maintains batch records and performs weekly coarse grain preweigh inventories.
• Transports up to 16,000 lbs. of batch to the fabrication area via hand truck on a  daily basis.
• Hand mixes and presses IQC sample disks as required.
• Extrudes, cuts, and palletizes dobie brick of various compositions.
• Moves extruded materials in and out of dryer and to staging area for firing. Completes and submits batch receipt and audit paperwork.
• Will operate evaporator and dryer to dispose of baddeleyite water and ditch cleanout.
• Inventories pre-weighs weekly. 

• Weighs and measures raw materials.
• Transfers materials to ball mills; operates mill and dumps milled batch.
• Transfers material to granulator.
• Granulating includes operating control panel, cleaning carriages and nozzles, and monitoring.
• Screens batch and packages to ship or inventory in-house.
• Fills out appropriate paper work as necessary. 
• Quality checks include PSD and moisture analysis.
• Also operates test press to monitor batch density; uses graduated cylinders for bulk/fill densities.
• Orders supplies like tickets and screens.
• Maintains water drying and cleans out containers of wash-out material. 
• Screens baddeleyite material for setter mix.  Also uses computers for issuing material, completions, and labor.
